Psalm 143:8 (TLB) “Let me see your kindness to me in the morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for my prayer is sincere.” In Matthew Henry’s commentary on Psalm 143 he notes, “He (David) did not only pray in affliction, but he prayed very much and very often, not the same over and over again, but new thoughts.”
David was a man of action. He was a do-er, a fighter, not a man without any fear, but courageous despite his fears. David did not ask God to make the path before him easy or free from hardships. But he did ask God for direction, to walk in the way of the Lord.
David could walk boldly, in the path laid out before him, the chosen by God for him to walk, and do so with his head held high, owning his citizenship as an heir to the King of all Kings. David ‘s trust in God came over years and years of having faith and seeing God move. Trust spurs us to action because God already proved himself worthy of faith, worthy of our trust.
